Insurance company to put signs in Sacramento intersections warning drivers to watch for motorcyc

Sacramento is one of 25 cities getting new traffic signs designed to increase awareness of motorcyclists on the road.

Allstate Corp. said it will place yellow, diamond-shaped caution signs at hundreds of intersections in major metropolitan areas around the country.

The traffic signs feature a motorcycle silhouette and the words "LOOK" to remind car drivers to watch out for motorcyclists.

According to Allstate, an average of three motorcyclists are killed every day in the U.S. and many of those accidents occur at intersections.

"Taking one extra second at an intersection to look left, right - and left again - for motorcyclists could make our roads safer," said Keith Rutman, vice president of Allstate's consumer household unit.
