The city of Roseville was one of the region's early adopters of a "crash tax," and after two years it appears it will be the first to repeal it. A vote to repeal the fee assessed nonresidents involved in traffic collisions is expected at the next City Council meeting later this month.
When the city approved the policy in February 2009, it expected to collect $100,000 annually from nonresident drivers. To date, the city has collected $40,000 through the fee, city officials said.
