As state officials announced the formal launch of a $2 billion foreclosure-prevention program Thursday, a market survey showed the foreclosure crisis maintains a tight grip on Sacramento.
Market researcher RealtyTrac said Sacramento foreclosure filings increased 5.5 percent in January from a year earlier, even as filings statewide dipped 6.6 percent.
One in every 151 homes in greater Sacramento received a filing in January.
"I would say among the hardest hit parts of California, Sacramento definitely stood out, because it increased while a lot of other areas decreased," said spokesman Daren Blomquist.
